Of course UK's Staff Sen. Paul Wilson, WKU's James McCaslin - Staff Council Chairman, and Bill Forman - chairman of the University of Louisville's Staff Senate are against the idea because of their own positions. From Staff Council Chairman to Union Steward in their eyes would be a step down.

"I think the value of a merit-based pay system is that it incentivizes - and rewards - individual achievement and merit," [UK President Lee] Todd said. "Across-the-board compensation schemes provide a disincentive for rewarding merit and individual achievement."
Of course... the problem is when an employee has the absolutely necessary job of keeping the building clean and does a great job of it for 20 years it isn't all that noticed. They are kinda like the offensive linemen of UK staff.
